CRS provide specialised double stacked 2-8°C cold storage for Merck Millipore at its offsite warehouse in Cork.
Project Brief
Merck Millipore contracted CRS cold storage to design, build, install and qualify a bespoke 2-8°C portable cold store at their offsite warehouse. After numerous proposals were discussed, the company decided on a turnkey solution which involved 2 x 20ft cold stores staked on top one another.
The Challenges
From the outset there was a major focus on ensuring that both ground and upper-level cold store did not protrude into the aisle as there is forklifts moving up and down the aisles to load and unload the surrounding pallet racking.
Very tight time frame, needed to be installed before the end of 2015 and qualified before the end of January 2015.
The User requirement specification provided by the client was quite details so the main challenge was to meet the required spec while still keeping to the ambitious timeframe.
The Solution
URS - FDS
One-piece refrigeration units cut down on installation time as they were fully finished and CE marked in the factory so no need for cable tray with pipework and cables to be fitted on site.
In order to meet the client’s requirements for the project, the CRS team put some different options put together complete with proposed layout drawings showing the required number of small boxes on the shelving in the ground level cold store as well as the required number of euro pallets in the upper-level cold store. The product storage areas had to be separated by a physical barrier to allow it to be used for product segregation and a quarantine storage area.
Once the general layout of the cold store was finalised CRS were under time pressure to procure the components required to manufacture the build.
This is a prime example of a bespoke build that CRS can offer you. Our experienced team will meet with you and scope any elaborate build that you require.
