Warrington Retail Market

Warrington Borough Council serves the people of Warrington and surrounding areas in the United Kingdom.

Amongst their services is to run the historic Warrington Retail Market which has been rated one of the best indoor markets in the UK as awarded by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), National Market Traders Federation
(NMTF) and National Farmers Retail and Markets Association (NFRMA) to name but a few.

The current Warrington Retail Market was being relocated until a new market area was built to facilitate the needs of both retailers and customers alike as the current area was outdated due to the over 100 year history of the building. Due to this relocation, they required Cold Storage units for each of their traders, at very short notice.

After the Council did some research and price comparisons, they met with CRS Cold Storage. A site survey was carried out by CRS Cold Storage who worked alongside the planning department of the council. The findings of this survey were that the space allocated for the cold storage units was very tight. CRS Cold Storage had to assess this issue and present the council with the best units for the allocated space.

After this process, it was recommended by CRS Cold Storage that the best way to deal with the councils’ need was to supply an array of products including their Mini Mobile and 10ft Grade A solutions. Warrington Borough Council was delighted that CRS Cold Storage were able to deliver a resolution to their issue.

An issue that was presented to CRS Cold Storage was the very tight lead-time requested by the Council. With the number of units to be installed, CRS Cold Storage had to deliver, install, test and calibrate all units within four weeks of approval.

CRS Cold Storage was able to deliver within the short lead-time and the tight parameters of the actual premises. In addition to the build, CRS Cold Storage had all units fitted with the latest Zanotti units which were flown in from Italy, to give Warrington Borough Council piece of mind that the Cold Storage units for their complicated rebuild were efficient throughout the process, without having any additional worries.

Each trader within the Warrington Retail Market was given a key to their allocated unit which is their responsibility and allows them to work freely and able to store their products effortlessly, giving the retailer, customer and council piece of mind that product was kept fresh thanks to the solutions provided by CRS Cold Storage.

A local trader, Gary Jones, owner of Singletons Meats said that

“Having the freezers provided by the council allow me to store more product onsite to cope with the demand of a busy market. Without this facility I would constantly be short stocked which isn’t good for me or the customer! I especially like the rails and hooks in the units which save space by allowing me to hang my stock.”
